Yelan offers incredible off-field Hydro application and ramping damage bonuses. Zhongli provides an unbreakable shield that completely negates the need to dodge, fundamentally changing the game's combat mechanics. Having even one of these characters drastically reduces the difficulty of the game.

The S Tier: The Core of the Abyss Roster

The S Tier is populated by incredibly strong characters who are slightly less universal than the SS tier but are still dominant forces in the Spiral Abyss. This tier is notable because it contains some of the best 4-star characters in the game, proving that you do not need to spend money to build elite teams.

Bennett, Xingqiu, and Xiangling—often referred to as the "National Team" core—have been in the S Tier since the game's release in 2020. Bennett provides unparalleled attack buffs and healing, Xingqiu offers fast Hydro application and damage reduction, and Xiangling's Pyronado is one of the most powerful off-field abilities in the game. These 4-stars out-damage and out-support the vast majority of limited 5-star characters.

The S Tier also houses the premier Main DPS characters who require specific teams to shine but offer incredible returns when properly supported. Alhaitham is a powerhouse for Spread/Hyperbloom teams, while Hu Tao remains the queen of single-target Vaporize damage. Navia brings Geo back into the meta with massive front-loaded burst damage, and Baizhu provides essential shielding and healing for Dendro reactions.
